A LETTER FROM M.O.M. (Mothers on a Mission)
As parents we teach our children the difference between right and wrong. We teach our children apologize when you are wrong; that if you make a mistake, own up to it and learn from it so you can try not to make the same mistake again. Obviously, the mayor was never taught these basic principles. Instead of admitting that she made a mistake by leaving the children’s names in her MUA report, she is blaming everyone but herself. She has sent out an e-mail to her supporters basically calling the councilmen and the parents of these children liars. We are protecting the children and residents of West Milford and will not stand for being called liars when doing so. We have attached her e-mail so you can see what she is telling the residents of our town. There are a few things we would like to clear up.
· We are all aware that the mayor sent a report to the Passaic County Prosecutors office as well as 3 state agencies on September 20, 2011. In the original report she had a 14 year olds facebook page and left his friends names and pictures for the above agencies to see. We never said that the children were named in her case. We said the children’s names and images should not have been sent to these agencies due to the fact that they did nothing wrong.
· The mayor claims that every person charged in her report is an adult. The report in question was filed by the mayor alleged corruption in the MUA. Why was a 14 year old boy’s facebook page included as an exhibit? The mayor’s supporters are saying that’s what happens when father and son have the same first name. Well obviously the mayor and her supporters did not do their research very well. The father and son do not have the same first name, and by looking at the facebook picture there is about a 30 year age difference. Also, why would an adult have so many children on his facebook page? So, if this information is not accurate, what else in her report is not accurate?
· The mayor states that the adults have been charged. This is also another claim that is not accurate. Not one person mentioned in her report has been charged with any illegal activity by the prosecutor’s office or any state agency. The alleged claims the mayor has made against the people named in her report in regard to ignoring the health, safety, and wellbeing of West Milford residents has not been proven by the prosecutors or the state agencies in the almost 2 months since the mayor has sent her report. Again, we repeat, no one has been charged with any wrong doing as the mayor has claimed.
· All the people named in the report are residents of West Milford. Some hold various positions in town, others do not, and one is actually a volunteer firefighter. The mayor states that all of her alleged charges against these people are serious. Yet, it has been almost 2 months since this report has been sent to these state agencies, and yet not one person mentioned in this report has been contacted, questioned or charged by any of the county or state agencies. The amazing thing is the some of children in this report are the children of these people. So she is not only attacking the adults but their families as well.
· We encourage all the residents to review the mayor’s report. When reviewing the report you will see a lot of material has been blacked out. What was blacked out is the information that the parents of those children wanted taken out. The mayor was resistant in removing the information, but at the insistence of the township attorney she redacted the information regarding the children. She claims that no children were mentioned, she is not stating that any of the 20 children did anything wrong. What she did was send the names and images of these children to state and government agencies on a document of alleged corruption. That is the problem that we, as parents, have. Why are these children linked to this? What did they do? The mayor herself said the people in her report were allegedly doing something wrong, so why are the kids in it? What needs to be understood is that the information that is blacked out is only blacked out to people that OPRA this report. The report that was sent to the county and state agencies has not been blacked out or redacted. So while you might not be able to see the children’s’ names and faces, the state and county agencies can and that is what we have issue with.
· The mayor states that she does not run a negative campaign. Yet we have received numerous flyers that state otherwise. She has used the children of people that do not agree with her for her personal gain. She has claimed that she has researched her information, yet there are too many inaccuracies to list. Is she and her supports not good at gathering her information or is she lying?
· She states that she is running because she has achieved so much during her last term. Yet she has not stated what she actually has done. If she personally achieved so many great things, then why didn’t she run her re-election campaign on all of the positive she did for West Milford, instead of running a negative campaign and harming so many children and adults in the process?
Over the past few weeks we have tried to show you the other side of the story that you do not read in the papers. We are mom’s that love our children and will do whatever it takes to make sure they are safe. The mayor has shown us time and time again, that the residents of our town and our children do not matter to her. All that matters is that she is re-elected mayor. You have the power of making her dream come true or you can help us protect the children and residents of West Milford.
